I have QB2007, 3 user version, and I cant get more than 1 person to
access the company file at a time. I have a peer to pier network, but
one machine is dedicated for server use. This server machine is
hosting multi user access, and the entire system is configured exactly
according to the QB white paper on multi user set up.

When the second person tries to access the company file they generally
receive one of the following messages:

error codes -6000, -77

Windows Type Dialogue Box With the Following:
The quickbooks company file ***My pathfilename** cannot be opened.
The problem can be fixed if you log out of Windows and ask the company
administrator at your site to log into windows and open this company
file in Quickbooks.

QB tech support is at a loss. We have verified the path and user/
access permissions to the shared company file directory are all
correct.

Any ideas out there?

Jim

When you installed QuickBooks on the server, how did you do it? did you use
the wizard? Was it initially installed as a standalone and then changed? I
have seen problem with that scenario and the only way to fix it was to
uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks and set up for multi use from the
beginning.
