I've recently updated to QB Enterprise 9.0 with came with a free (read
only) QODBC driver. Is there any way to use QODBC without having QB
open? Also, I find data retreival using QODBC very slow (i.e. just
forget about transaction tables such as the "Invoice" table). Is there
any way to speed things up? Thanks, Bob

I think the freebie driver does require that QB is open.

There is a QODBC forum here:

you might find more information.

I tried the QODBC forum link and some of the suggestions to optimize
my links. However, it still took way to long to open a table (...say
30 minutes) making ODBC access useless. I get the sense that QB isn't
really open in that we're not allowed to see the actual tables.
Instead, the tables we see are being built with each query (just a
guess). It seems to me that if we could see the actual tables...then
there would be no processing delay. I'm not a techie...however...I've
much success with ODBC with may other systems. I should add...that I'm
primarily interested in GL data, however, there isn't a GL table in
the QODBC as one would typically find with an ERP solution.
Hence...IMHO...QB still has a ways to go with ODBC functionality. I'd
appreciate anyone else's opinion on this topic. Regards, Bob
