I just found out that QuickBooks 2006 uses Sybase SQL Anywhere
database (please correct me if this is not so).

Is it possible to access QB 2006 data directly using SQL Anywhere
technologies, or are there keys/encryption in place allowing data
manipulation only through QuickBooks?

Any reference to this bit of information about sybase?

Well, even though we are not allowed to access the database directly,
I applaud Intuit's decision to move to Sybase SQL Anywhere. This is excellent
performer amongst databases, great value, and can be run 100% unattended
due to the impressive array of self-maintenance and optimization features.

Also, SQL Anywhere can take advantage of multiprocessor hardware for faster
database access.

Thank you!
