Yes. Actually, many retailers sell the package. The everyday
pricer at Sam's Club is about $150.00.
It is a retail 1 year subscription package. The box includes
instructions on how to log into a special payroll website. You
enter your Quickbooks and business information (License and
product numbers from the sticker in the box, Your Company name
and address, EIN, Payroll contact information, and an optional
Credit card for automatic future renewal). You are provided with
the Payroll Service Key which you enter into your copy of
QuickBooks. Entering the key varies slightly depending on your
QuickBooks version, but you should be able to get the specific
instructions you need from the QuickBooks help system. I believe
the license is good for 3 EINs which each must have their own
Keys, but I think you have to contact Payroll Customer Service
to get the other Keys. Once the Key was entered, my payroll was
updated to handle 2006 and 2007 with access to any updates that
come out during the next 12 months to support those years. I
don't know whether it will provide initial 2008 tables, but any
2008 service would be limited since my subscription runs out in
mid January. I had been using the one time update that came with
2006 PRO which generated 941s dated in 2005, but I just created
a new one which was a valid 2006 form for the 4th quarter.
The package I purchased said that it had to be installed within
3 months of purchase or 1/31/2008, whichever comes first, so you
can't buy a second copy for next year at this price.
