Looks like QB2006 and others could be a problem in Vista. Got the email
from Intuit. I would blame Inuit here not MSFT. Intuit is always
pushing their users to upgrade. I am not moving to Vista at work right
now but I am unhappy that Intuit did not get the program and others
working in Vista. I am sure all my Adobe products run fine in Vista.
Not to mention all the other big expensive programs we use.

The email they sent was also vague. I think they want to push those
upgrades.

The cost for an incremental like that is nuts.

I don't know what email you're speaking of but I'd recommend giving
Intuit time. IMO, anyone who makes the switch to Vista before SP1 is
crazy. Bad news has plagued the OS so let's give it time to get the
bugs worked out before we expect software vendors to backtrack and make
prior versions of their product compatible with a brand new OS version.

Here's a link to a notice to developers regarding Vista, which
has some useful info. Intuit has been updating it regularly
as they learn more:

http://developer.intuit.com/developer/newsletter.asp?id=504

I installed QB 2006 on the last Vista release candidate. There
were some weirdness with the installer, but the application
seemed to run fine in a single-user scenario under limited
testing.

There really are a ton of little things to change to accommodate
Vista's new way of handling user accounts correctly. I wouldn't
expect many application developers to go back and fix it all
for prior versions, since most will work with Vista's built-in
workarounds (file and registry virtualization).

I just got en email today from Intuit. They say 2006 may not work 100%
with Vists. They are not clear on this. I doubt they will offer any
software updates to make 06 work with vista. By the way Microsoft has
probably supplied Intuit beta versions for more than a year. THey dont
care from what I can see.

2006 Pro does indeed owrk on Vista. The only issue I had with it was
updating the program and thus, downloading transactions, as only the latest
releases allow QB06 to dl transactions in Vista. I believe there is probably
some workaround that would allow the updates (perhaps manual updates...),
but I switched to 2007 as I don't have time at the moment to figure it out.
