We have been using Quickbooks Pro 2005. We recently bought Quickbooks
Premier 2008. Instead of updating 2005 directly, I have installed 2008
as a separate program so that we can continue to use it while we test
out 2008.I was able to easily backup/restore from the 2005 to 2008,
for 2 of our companies. The third and last company file backs up okay,
but when restoring it to 2008, I get the error -6032,-19 "An error
occurred when Quickbooks tried to access the company file." This is
after it goes through the whole "updating data" process which takes
about 15 minutes.
Quickbooks support said to try a portable backup, but that feature
seems to not exist in 2005, only in 2006 or later.I did open the file
up in 2005 and did the verify data utility. It found some things and
corrected them. Subsequent checks have not found anything. Quickbooks
2005 does keep asking to install recent updates, but I am hesitant to
do that, since I don't know if the update is necessary or if it would
even fix the issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
