In the State where I am it is illegal to hide the sales
tax. The merchandise or job price must be shown and then it
is illegal for the business to pay the tax, so it must be
shown on the invoice in addition to the price charged for
goods and services. The customer must then pay the tax. Many
states are like this, so you may want to check your state
laws before hiding the tax. If you hide the tax, you may be
liable for the tax on the amount shown because the state may
interpret the figure as the amount of the goods or services.
The gov't doesn't like to see a QB invoice in your computer
that is different from the invoice your customer has.
