Upgrade company file from 04 to 08/09? Boppy 10-10-2008

Hi guys, I have purchased, installed and activated QB2008/09 but
cannot open or restore my company file from QB04.

The upgrade instructions tell me I must first upgrade to the 07/08
version, which naturally enough I do not have.

Surely I am not the only person in the world to upgrade to the very
latest version of Quickbooks from QB04 - I mean, really, who upgrades
every year? Do Quicken really expect me to have bought QB07 when
2008/09 is available? (I can't ask them this because it's the weekend
here).

So ... how would I upgrade my 04 company file so I can open it in my
08/09 Quickbooks?

I'd be really grateful if someone here can tell me the trick because
if I can get things upgraded over the weekend it will give me a head
start next week in getting my files to the accountant.

Thanks in advance,
Jo

Hi Pete, just to reassure you that the data was able to be upgraded
via 2007/2008 disk which Quicken sent me. It was also in the original
software box. Personally I think it's a great version, just having all
my customers and suppliers on the desktop and being able to click on
any transaction is a huge improvement.

Excellent.
Thankyou for the update Jo.
I think it's something I will have to do sooner rather than later as I
can't do so many things on my windows vista <spit> PC

Thanks again Jo.
Cheers

One simple solution is to give your QB 2004 data file to your accountant
and ask him/her to update it to version 2007, 2008 or 2009 for you. I am
not certain but perhaps Intuit supplies a demo version of 2007 or 2008 that
can be used just for this purpose.

I do find it quite surprising that version 2009 can only upgrade from
version 2007 on up. My gut tells me that you do not know what you are taking
about. I am certain the experts on this newsgroup that have invested in
version 2009 can verify this.
