Upgrade company file from 04 to 08/09? Boppy 10-10-2008

I did some research on the US Intuit web site and the FAQ section on
upgrading to version 2009 states that version 2009 will automatically
convert all prior windows versions of QB.

I'm glad that I did the research because I read about a killer new feature
in version 2009 on the web site. Version 2009 comes with quick finder. This
feature allows the user to select customers, vendors, etc in a finder rather
than having to scroll down lists. The absence of this feature in prior
versions has always been one of QB's shortcomings.

If quick finder were the only new feature in version 2009 it would be reason
enough to upgrade. I can't think of a single client of mine that will not
benefit from this feature. Productivity gains out strip the cost to upgrade
by a wide margin.

The references to version 2008/09 makes me think this is not a US version.
Boppy's headers indicate that he/she is from New Zealand so anything is
possible.

I do agree with your suggestion to have the accountant upgrade the file for
the OP. In the interest of time I would just stick with 2004 until I had the
time/means to deal with upgrading the file.

In the box you got with your purchase, you should have got two disks.

One of the disks has the 2008-09 version on it. The other has an
evaluation copy of 2007-08 version, together with a text file with an
Install Key Code for the 2007-08 version.

The yellow book has the instructions for finding the version. Find it
and have a good read of the instructions for upgrading from your year
version.

Many of the comments you will receive here will be from US QB users. You
are in Australia or NZ if you are using 2008-09, and my response is from
Australia.

I hope this helps.

Thanks Bob, the box is off-site so when I next go to that office I'll
have a look. Meantime, now that it's Monday here I'll see if Quicken
have a file they can email to me.

Cheers,
Jo
