Does anyone know if its possible to import 2001 files into the latest
version of quickbooks, which Im probably going to purchase tomorrow.

Depends on the type of files you created back in 2001.

I only ever filled out customer names, amounts, and the company address. I
didnt create or use any functionality except the basics, and only tend to
create a dozen or so invoices each month.

You should not have any problems upgrading.
