Hi - does anyone know how to get rid of the displayed file choices at
opening? It seems to retain them forever even if it's an old file and an old
path.

Thanks!

In QB2006 and prior, in your QB application folder is a file named
qbw.ini. It has a section

[MRUFiles_standard_stratum]
file1=...
file2=...
...

Just delete or edit the "fileN=" entries.

In QB2007 and later the qbw.ini is found in:
Documents and SettingsAll UsersApplication DataIntuitQuickBooks 2007

(on Vista it would be: ProgramDataIntuitQuickBooks 2007)

I don't know if true but have been told that in Vista any folder under
ProgramData is a Read-only folder.
If it is true, the INI file could not be manipulated.

Oh yeah, I think you're right about the path I listed. In fact, I
think ProgramData is hidden as well. But I'm pretty sure there is
a path under "Public" that points to the same location and that
the QB installer sets read-write access for all users. I'll double-check
and report back.
