The verify database and rebuild database is grayed out in single user
mode. How can I do a rebuild? Also what is the dbase extension since
I can not find any qbb files

All of QB's windows (except the main one of course) must be closed
before you can run a verify or rebuild. Select "Close All" from the
Windows menu.

QBW is the extension for the QB database file.
