I created a test file the other day to see how something downloaded from my
brokers website and to have a look at the data and see if it was usefull. I
then went back to my main file and now under the "One step update summary"
there is a place holder for the downloads that was just done for test
purposes. Any idea on how to remove/edit this data??

That's odd that One Step Update would've created a "placeholder" in your
main file.
Nevertheless, the way I delete extra accounts, especially those that fail,
is to disable downloads on all the accounts of that financial institution,
then enable just those that I want.

You statement doesn't make sense.

Downloads to one Quicken file should never have any effect on
downloads to a different Quicken file.

While I have never seen a placeholder referred to in the
download summary, I do know that if you see an offer to accept a
placeholder, and you don't want the placeholder, you just cancel
the offer of the placeholder.

And if the invitation to accept the placeholder is
inappropriate; you need to double check your Quicken holdings to
your fi's holdings (as your fi reports those holdings to Quicken
when you download).
