I am running Quicken 2004 Basic. I want to install 2008 Deluxe, but I want
to start over - not import data from 2004. I would like to be able to print
reports from 2004, but will not be adding trancactions.

Is there a trick to doing that?

I'd suggest importing your 2004 file. Then create a new one. Use the new
one for your day to day work and only open the one you imported when you
want to run reports.
