Hi,
First time here, so hi everyone.
I'm still using Quicken 2000 and as Intuit have wihdrawn from the UK
market, there is no upgrade path available. I've tried MS Money, but
hate it.
I'm using it with XP home at the moment without any problems (although
my memorised transactions no longer work after I cleared a lot of old
entries some time ago. Any ideas??)
Anyhow, my laptop is very flaky and will probably upgrade to a new
machine which will no doubt have Vista pre-installed.
Will Q2000 work? Does anyone out there have Q2000 running on Vista?
I'd really like some advice as I'll be lost if I cannot use Q2000 on a
new machine.
Thanks in advance
JP

Oh, and if anyone can shed any light onto the Memorised transaction
issue, I'd be grateful.

I can't answer your question about Quicken 2000, and I didn't know
that Intuit had withdrawn from the UK market. But what happens if you
use a current US version of Quicken? You'll occasionally see a dollar
sign that should be a pound sign, but that doesn't seem like a serious
problem. Is there any other reason that a US version wouldn't work for
you?

Interesting point. I hadn't thought about doing it that way. It's
certainly an option if Q2000 won't work with Vista I suppose.
Thanks.

You wouldn't have to worry about the currency; US versions can
use most currencies as their "home" currency. All displays and
reports are in the "home" currency. The UK Pound Sterling and
the Euro are both available currencies.

If you needed to do regular conversions from one currency to
another, that might be problematic in the US version as there
are no automatic downloads for currency exchange rates.

You would not be able to download from any non-US financial
institutions with the US version.

But your biggest problem would probably be converting from the
UK to the US version; which you would probably have to do using
QIF file export/import. That process is a bit more complicated
in newer US Quicken versions than it used to be ... but it is
generally doable.

You could buy the Canadian version which does support exchange rate
downloads - but would have all the other limitations you mention for an
out-of-country user.
