I'm using Quicken 2006 for Mac. I've split my paycheck transaction as
specified in the User Manual to reflect pre-tax deductions from salary. For
those things that aren't transfers to another quicken account, like pre-tax
health insurance payments, I just assign the deduction to the W-2:Salary
category. That works for things assigned to categories. But what about
transfers to a Flexible Spending Account. That's also supposed to be
pre-tax. But if I want to track the Flexible Spending Account in Quicken, I
assign the transfers not to a category, but to the account itself (in
brackets). So the deduction from salary shows up as a deposit in the
account. This is also what Quicken suggests in the manual. My question is
how do I get Quicken's tax report to match my W-2? On the W-2, the transfer
to the flex account is deducted from taxable wages. But in Quicken it
isn't, so the numbers don't match up. What am I missing?
Thanks,
David
