Hi, wonder if anyone has come accross this? Running XP Pro and Quicken
Personal Plus 2008 (Australain version). Yestrday while using auto update to
update the share prices in my portfolio quicken decided to spit the dummy
and just close without updating the prices. No error messages or warnings
etc, it just closed down? I tried switching of virus scan and firewall but
did it did nothing, Quicken continued to just close down whenever I tried to
download share prices. Tried re-setting the download settings but no go, it
continued to close!
Has anyone come accross this and fixed it?

Started quicken tonight clicked update and it worked? It seels to have fixed
itself? A very worrying thing as it is just as likely to unfix itself!
Anyway maybe giving it a rest overnight reset something?

About 1/3 of the times I do a on-line download of share prices from
Quicken/Intuit my Quicken 2002 simply freezes. When I do a
control-alt-delete the indication is that 100% of the processor cycles are
being used. I have to delete Quicken from the active list and then re-start
quicken. My OS is Win XP, SP2 with all the updates.

These kind of problems are usually caused by some data coming in that is
outside of the range of values that the program expects, along with some
sloppy programming that is not prepared for the bad data. For example,
if the program expected to receive 3 number values, but only got 2
numbers, then it might crash when it tried to use the third value that
was missing.

It was probably fixed by someone correcting the invalid data that was
being downloaded. Now, the program no longer receives the bad data, and
avoids the crash. The problem will always be there in the program unless
it is corrected by an update, as it probably always has been there, but
as long as the data is OK, it will work just fine.
