Quicken Premier 2007 - Although my bank appears in the list of participating
financial institutions, the account I have set up in Quicken does not appear
in the list of institutions available for downloading updates and the
summary page says it is not available for download. This makes no sense. As
an additional piece of information, this account was previously with another
bank and when I moved the money, I simply changed the name of the account to
the new bank name. Could this have anything to do with the problem ? If not,
what's left to do to get the information to download ?

You may have to delete all on-line info in that Quicken account, then
fill in the appropriate new information.

As an alternative you could set up a new account for the new bank, then
just make a "final transfer" of the balance from the old account. But
before you do that:
1: First reconcile your old account to a known date and balance.
2: Then download all transactions into the new accouunt from the new
bank's on-line system.
3: Then delete all transactions that were downloaded that date before
your reconcile date (maybe leave a few days' worth in to allow for
overlap).
4: Now make the transfer of the last balance inyour old account, and
delete any opening balance that was generated or entered.

I believ (emmphasis) that this should work, if you can et downloading to
work.

Did you establish online banking and bank downloading with the new bank?
Some banks require this before quicken will recognize the account.

Also, deactivate the online service within Quicken for the old account and
reactivate it using the new account login info.

Not sure I understand, the new account will have new and different
username/password to access the account as well as account numbers and
other info that applies to the new account. Just renaming the account
will not change the access info.
You will need to set up the access with the new bank before quicken can
access the account.
