Can you import data from Bank of America Checking and credit cards
into Quicken 2008. I tried to help a friend download the checking data
but could not get it to work within Quicken. Does he need to contact
BOA if he wants to use quicklen 08 with the data? I appreciate any
info on this.

I don't know if your problem is the same as the one I had, but I could not
get the Bank of America web page to advance to the account details page
(where the Quicken download is). However I was able to get it to work when
I used dial-up instead of DSL. I then resolved this by using a different
firmware version in my Linksys router, and it now works with my DSL
connection.

Bank of America is not an easy one to set-up. The options vary. There is
Web Connect which is initiated from the Bank's site. That should be fairly
straight forward. Then there is Direct Connect which is basically download
plus bill payment. They generally charge a fee for this. Finally there is
Express Web Connect which is an automated Web Connect that runs within One
Step Update. I have always had difficulty in getting this set-up. I
believe that the transactions are only downloaded when statements are
created - generally once a month. I do not have much activity in this
account so I can not really confirm this.

I use Quicken 07 with BOA credit card ok. Don't have a checking account
with them so can't say about that.

There is more than one Bank of America; there are several
different "regions", and each may have its own rules. Be
certain you have chosen the correct "financial institution" in
Quicken.

Whether you can use "Direct" downloads or must use "Web Connect"
downloads will depend on the region and on what type account you
have (or whether you pay the fee to get Direct downloads).

It's been years since I first started downloading from BofA (All
Other States), so I can't tell you for certain, but they may
very well require you to have them set some flag in their system
to allow you to download.

Call them, there's nothing to lose.

[To get better help in the future: it would be a good idea to
provide more detailed information than "could not get it to
work".]
