I don't have any insights to your particular problem, but R5 has
been around for a long time (in "release" terms).
When did you last use Quicken before installing R5? Or, did you
get offered R5 for many weeks but refuse to apply it until
today?
Have you had any problems with R4? Did you check with the
Intuit support site to see if R5 was intended to solve any
problems you might have had with R4?

I have read of several problems with Q2007, some of which
*users* attributed to R5. To the best of my recollection, none
of those problems resembled those you describe. [Perhaps a more
detailed description of those problems (and hopefully, specifics
about how they differed from pre-R5 behaviour) would elicit some
helpful responses.]

This could suggest some other problems.
Possibly the "release install" process has mucked up something;
something which a "standard" uninstall does not fix, and
something that *might* not be "data" related.
A solution/workaround for those type of problems suggest that
you *might* benefit from looking for ways to more completely
"uninstall".
Some of the things which I have done are:
1.) Use Control Panel uninstall to remove all versions of
Quicken.
2.) Use "qcleanui.exe" on the Quicken CD to assist in removing
all Quicken versions.
3.) Use msizap.exe (available from Microsoft; and, I think, on
the Quicken CD) to remove all existing Quicken versions
4.) Use Windows Explorer to remove all folders/files with
"quicken" in their name. [Insure that you have given Windows
Explorer access to *every* folder/file on your computer.}
5.) Make sure there is no way any file remains on your computer
with the name "qw.exe"
6.) [Some have reported that they removed entries from the
Windows registry: I have never needed to do that (and I have
experienced many different problems with Quicken in my testing)
... but you may look to others to give you guidance in clearing
the Windows registry, if you think that may be necessary.]

Thank your lucky stars for this. And for the future: make
certain that you keep your Quicken data in a folder that could
never be unintentionally deleted during a Microsoft/user-manual
uninstall.
[Quicken will never remove any files it thinks you have your
Quicken data in ... but Microsoft and you may not be so
reliable.]

Yes, it's *possible*.
The simplest way to prove that is to create a "New" Quicken
file, and setup whatever is necessary in that "new" file to test
if the same problem occurs there.
