BUT, my paycheque is different every month, so I have no values to preload
onto the form.

What's the point of having a scheduled transaction if you can't create a
template for it.

My paychecks vary also. Don't ask me why, but Cornell can't keep a
straight salary straight. Most often it varies between 2 different sets of
taxes calculated. What I have done recently is that I have set 1 paycheck
entered automatically into the register several month in advance, then I
copy and paste the other one (if those are the amounts I need) into the
register at the correct date, and delete the automatically entered one.
Sometimes I have to really edit the automatically entered pacheck. I think
the variations are mostly due to whatever stupid payroll program is used by
my employer. Just a few more years ...

His split deposit calendar item for his pay check should have all the credit
item in his pay, e.g. regular time, overtime, stat pay...if he wishes plus
all debit factors, i.e. income tax withheld, various deductions for
pensions, IRA's, etc etc. When the automatic item comes up for entry, it's
easier to simply edit the exact date, exact amounts in the various
categories than to do everything from scratch every payday.

My paycheck varies also, but it usually by a couple of cents due to rounding
in Federal, State, Social Security or Medicare Taxes and my Salary does not
divide into a nice rounded 1/24 number. I still record what a typical check
looks like (for budget, cash flow) and adjust the pennies when I have the
detail.

What's the point of scheduling an incomplete transaction? You could record
the template with all zeros as the detail.

Because... I don't want to SCHEDULE a single transaction. I want to create a
ready to fill in template.

Quicken lets me create the transaction, so why not edit it?
