I asked on this list about a problem I was having with the "Cash
Representation" button not showing up. Below is the response I got from
Quicken tech help.
My question then is : Is there some "other" way to instruct Quicken to treat
the money funds as cash instead of stocks when it accepts the downloads from
the broker. Does anyone know? A setting or different definition of the
money fund "security"?

"Thank you for contacting Quicken Customer Care.
Jeff, I understand that you see some accounts with a Cash Representation tab
while on others you do not see it. This is a known issue with Quicken, which
has been reported to the development team. Some clients cannot see the Cash
Representation tab at all, while you say it is visible in your Quicken.
Quicken.com still mentions the Cash Representation tab which does not ever
show up uniformly. There is nothing wrong with your copy of the software. It
has been an issue with Quicken in general, Jeff.
If you need additional assistance, please reply to this e-mail or visit our

knowledge base or chat live with an agent. Have a great day and thank you
for using Quicken!"

This is on Quicken Deluxe 2006 running in Win dows XP. I have several
investment accounts with the same broker and they all sweep cash into a
money fund. They are all setup for automatic download in the same manner and
the downloads work fine.
Steps in Quicken:
1. Open an investment account by clicking on it's name.
2. Go to the "summary" tab and click it open
3. Scroll down to the "Cash" link at the bottom of the screen (just above
the totals).
4. Click on the "Cash". This opens a window labeled "Update Cash Balance".
Problem:
In some of my investment accounts when I do the above steps the "Update Cash
Balance" window that opens contains a button at the bottom (3rd from the
left) called "Cash Representation".
In other investment accounts (same file, same broker, same everything) when
I do the above steps the "Update Cash Balance" window that opens does not
contain a button at the bottom called "Cash Representation". Where the
button should be there is instead just a BLANK SPACE. I attached 2 screen
shots of the "Update Cash Balance" windows for you to see.
