Gary,
For years I used DivX to record and transfer dividends to a checking
account. Then, I started recording the dividend directly into the checking
account, using the name of the mutual fund as the source and _DivInc as the
category. I find this better for me. It keeps the mutual fund account free
of dividends, so it shows only buys and redemptions. Year-end summaries are
the same. So, I don't need DivX anymore, even tho it is still available in
my old version of Q.

Prefer not to do it that way. By doing it the way I have been I can
look at the security and see the flow up or down of the monthly
dividends.

Hi, Gary.

The DivX function is still there in Q2006. Only the name has disappeared.

In your Investment Account, click Enter Transactions. From the drop-down
list, choose Inc. - Income (Div., Int., etc.). In this window, use Transfer
account to show which bank got the cash.

Entering the destination of the cash here accomplishes the former "DivX"
function. If this Transfer account is left blank, the dividend received
just increases the cash balance in this investment account - the former
"Div" function.

I haven't used mutual funds in a few years, so there may be some quirks in
Quicken's handling of those of which I'm unaware.

I would do it this way EXCEPT that the transfer account option is
grayed out and not available for use. I was reduced to recording a
dividend and then a withdrawal and transfer. Two steps to accomplish
what should be, and was until this month, one.
