Is it possible when downloading transactions from my bank to have split
categories automatically included? Do still need to manually insert the
transaction and then decide after download if they are the same?

How do I do it? Thanks.

Categories can be automatically assigned to downloaded
transactions if you have a "Memorized Payee" for the payee and
have assigned that payee the desired category (and you have
"QuickFill" turned on).

I don't understand this process.

If you want Quicken to assign split categories to a downloaded
transaction, you have two considerations.

If the transaction will always be for the same dollar amount,
and the split lines will always be for the same dollar amount;
you can create a Memorized Payee with the exact dollar amounts
in each split line.

And if that same split transaction will occur at regular
intervals, you could use a Scheduled Transaction instead of a
Memorized Payee.

If the transaction will not always be for the same dollar
amount, the only "reasonable" option I know is to create a
Memorized Payee with its split lines saved as percentages
(Quicken asks you if you want to do this when you create a
Memorized Payee with split lines). [I have never found a use
for this myself.]

Sounds right. I'll give it a try. Thanks.
