I have Quicken Premier 2006 and download my Vanguard transactions into
Quicken. Every once in a while, Quicken tries to create identical place
holder entries equivalent to what I have in quicken already, i.e.:

Shares in Quicken 0 Shares in Vanguard 456.307
Shares in Quicken 456.307 Shares in Vanguard 0.

The name of the fund is also identical.

Any ideas as to what is causing this?

Look at the source of the investment - i.e. is it Employee After Tax
Contributions, Other Vested Contributions, etc.
