I accidentally uninstalled Quicken Deluxe 2006 (I meant to uninstall
Quickbooks 2005). Now, when I try to reinstall it, immediately after
specifying the directory, Quicken exits with the above referenced code. A
search turns up nothing at Quicken support. Anyone?

For the record, what did you do to resolve the issue - in case someone else
has the same problem, and Googles the error code, it would be great to have
it documented what you did to resolve it.

A long URL, so it may have to be copy and pasted a few times, but if it is
googled, a tinyurl may be non functional 5 years from now.

It's not even for the 1618 error code, but rather 1601. It seems that
Quicken hadn't uninstalled all of itself, resulting in a neccessity to
'unregister' itself via the process cited at the above URL.

Thanks Alex - a single swipe at cut/paste into a browser worked fine!
