For those who have not already heard, Intuit says they have a
new quotes server and they have invited Quicken Forum
registrants to check it out. I don't see why Intuit would mind
if those who aren't registered there were also to give it a try,
so here are Intuit's instructions for doing that.

1.. Open the Quicken.ini file found in Documents and
SettingsAll UsersApplication DataIntuitQuickenConfig. If
they are using Windows Vista, then the location is
ProgramDataAll UsersApplication DataIntuitQuickenConfig
2.. In the section [INTERNET] add the following lines
sun= qwvip.quicken.com

moon= qwvip.quicken.com

3.. Save the Quicken.ini file. Quicken will need to be
restarted if is currently running.
4.. Quicken will use the new server when you do a One Step
Update or use Download Quotes in the Portfolio View.

Thanks for the information but....

There is no [INTERNET] section in the file and, it's not Quicken.ini,
it's QUSER.INI. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64 bit with Quicken 2008.

I added an [INTERNET] section and there seems to be absolutly no
difference of any kind?

I'm not sure what version of Quicken (or Windows) you are
running, but for Q2008 and Q2009 on Windows XP, there is a
Quicken.ini (in addition to QUSER.INI): it's just where Intuit
said it would be.

I had no trouble finding the file, and it does contain an
"[INTERNET]" section.

Make sure you looked in the "All Users" folder and not in the
folder for your Windows user (which is where QUSER.INI resides
for Q2008 and Q2009 under Windows XP).

If you're using Vista, I can't provide any further assistance,
but perhaps others here using Vista can help.

Given where you put the changes, this result doesn't surprise
me.

It's in the Program Data folder. I sabatoged myself by logging off and
back on to the administrator account and forgot I'd never set Windows
Explorer to show "hidden files and folders" and "show protected files"
in the administrator account! Had I remained in the user account I
would have found it right away.

Having made the changes and logged back in to the user account it's
still made no difference as far as I can tell. I was hoping it might
fix the permanent error trying to download a Chase Visa account but no
such luck.

Error:
"The CC-580 error occurs because of an error on the Quicken server. All
server errors are resolved by the Quicken team within 2 to 3 business
days. There is no action you can take to resolve this error. If you
need to update your accounts immediately, you can use an alternate
update method. You should use this alternate method until the server
error is corrected.

Note: Your financial institution cannot resolve this issue.

To update your accounts immediately:

Log in to your financial institution's Web site.
Navigate to the download page and click download to Quicken.
Follow the on-screen instructions to update your accounts.
Periodically click the Update Now button on the account Overview or
Summary tab to see if the server issue is resolved. Once you
successfully update your account this way, you can continue using One
Step Update for this account."

This has been a continual error with no apparent fix?

As far as I know, the new server is only intended to address
issues with downloading quotes.
