I solved the problem. The error was that the settings for
Internet Explorer 7 and cookies got changed to not accept
cookies unless confirmed by the user. I don't use IE 7,
so it must have gotten changed in a service pack or somesuch.
Once I re-enabled cookies, the online downloads starting working
again.
