In addition to R.C.'s questions; I note that in one post you
said you "click[ed] Done", while in this post you say you "press
enter". Which is it?

Also, do you have your register quickfill preferences set to
"use the enter key to move between fields"?

If you are pressing the Enter key, and you have your preferences
set to move between fields when you press Enter, you won't
usually get an investment transaction "entered" until the
"current" field becomes the "Enter/New" button (after you have
pressed the Enter key enough times to move the cursor to the
"Enter/New" button). Pressing the enter key when the Enter/New
button is selected will cause the transaction to be entered,
cause "some" of the transaction fields to be cleared, and wait
for you to "enter" another transaction. But it will "enter" the
transaction.

At some point I had all the prices of the mutual funds in the variable
annuity disappear - all went to zero. I struggled with this for some
time and eventually I got an error message that said that I could not
retrieve the data because of a missing file (which it named but I did
not record). It then stated that I should re-install Quicken, which I
did. This removed all my backups in my Quicken folder, but fortunately
I had backups on another hard drive and on DVD Anyway, this problem has
not recurred since then.

However, when I restored the backup I was again missing the prices
(which I had on a paper copy from the broker). That seems stable now
but I do wonder why they were disappearing. Hopefully, it is the
missing file which is now restored.

Thanks for your interest and help.
