Getting rid of old securities in Quicken DGD 05-28-2008

When looking at a summary of investments in any particular account,
one can click on individual investments. A new window opens up called
the "Security Detailed View" that provides an overview of the security
in question. There is also a drop down selection box where one can
select any of the securities held. My problem is that the list
contains every security I have ever held, regardless of whether or not
I currently hold it. I would like this drop down menu to only
identify those securities I currently hold, but I cannot find a place
in Quicken XG 2005 to eliminate defunct securities. Any one know how
to do this?

Thanks

Doug

As I remember, you might very well find that Q will STILL not let you delete
a security if it thinks that the information is needed to provide cost basis
for something or somehow else. Let us know what you find when you give this
a whirl!

Going to the security list permits you to "hide" secuirties or delete
them. I won't delete them because I don't know the impact of
deletion. When a security is flagged as "hidden" it does nothing with
respect to the "Detailed Security View". All securities are
identified, regardless of whether or not they are flagged as "hidden".
