I was wondering if anyone else has been having this problem. Quicken Tech
support
has been trying but can't find a solution.
When I try to install q 2008 and it looks for a previous version it finds
none and quits
installation. The only solutions that tech support has to offer is to use a
Quicken
uninstall utility, (not sure if that's what it is referred to as), and a
windows installer
removal utility.
I have been using Microsoft Money which is working fine but I've been using
Quicken for years
and want to give it another shot.

James

Hi, James.

To prevent us from rushing headlong down the wrong road, please tell us
WHICH Q2008 (Deluxe, Premium...) and WHICH operating system (WinXP Home SP1?
Vista Ultimate x64 SP1? Or some other?).

This sounds backward. Q2008 should not mind at all if there is no previous
version installed.

It would also help if you would state the steps you take and the
exact message you get.

And you did not say whether you tried the uninstall utilities.

The Quicken utility is name qcleanui.exe and should be on your
product CD (I think it's also available at the Quicken support
site).

The Microsoft uninstaller is named something like msiapp.exe;
you should be able to get the exact name, and how to get the
program, from the Quicken support site. Look for "install" or
"uninstall" problems.

I'm more curious if others have had this problem, but.
I'm getting a bit tired of trying to install this.

It started with Q2008 failing to install R6 update. Can't remember the
error.
Downloaded the update and it installed.

The toolbar all of a sudden vanished. so I uninstalled Q2008.

I believe the problem with installing it was caused by 3rd party software I
use that can search the registry for keyword(s). After uninstalling I
searched
Quicken and Intuit and deleted all entries.

When I tried to install Q2008 it couldn't find a previous version and the
installation
failed. I don't remember the exact words or number.
After uninstalling Q2008 didn't show in Vista's Programs and Features. The
Microsoft installer removal utility didn't show an entry for Quicken nor did
the Quicken removal utility.

One odd thing here. I have a 3rd party cleanup utility that cleans junk
files but also has
an uninstall utility. In the list of installed program it show the quicken
icon but no name.
I have since formatted my hd, not because of this issue, I do this once a
year.
