Assuming you don't need to enter data from both machines at the same time,
you could try something like FolderShare (http://www.foldershare.com) or
BeInSync which will keep the files in sync between the computers. Only
caveat is that they both have to be connected to the net at some time. I
used FolderShare and works great for this.

Good Luck..

Yes, what I'm wondering is is anyone synchronizes multiple entries on 2 PCs,
as opposed to backups. I use SyncBack, which is probably similar to
BeInSync, and it does not have that capability. It looks at time-stamps,
which will not accomplish the data sych of my example in my orig post.
Also, both PCs are not on at the same time. I can't say when and where my
wife's laptop is, but would like to sych her data entry with mine on my
desktop.

Thanks for your interest and sharing your post.
Cheers,
Jim

If you have a local network and some attached storage, you could put
your Quicken data files on a network share, map that share to a drive
letter on 2 PCs connected to your local network, and update the
Quicken dataset from either PC as long as you don't do it
simultaneously. It's pretty simple to do with a router and an
inexpensive ($80 + disk/and-or/flash drive) file server like a Linksys
NSLU2.

If you absolutely need offline updates to two distinct local Quicken
datasets then you'll need some very smart, probably unavailable,
synchronization software.

This is supposedto work, but does depend on reliable intercomputer
connections. That means you have to trust things like the ActionTec
router that Verizon supplies.

Especially if you go this route, backups are your friends!

I guess I'll stick with the manual backup method through SyncBack, since
backups are still required. Just thought there might be a more elegant and
inexpensive way to do sync'ing kind of like MS Outlook does. Thanks to all
the previous posters for sharing their experiences.

Cheers,
Jim
