How to 401K Employer Contribution Corrected? Barbara L 11-18-2006

I set up a spouse paycheck. It has a pretax 401k employee contribution but
no employer match. Everything seems fine but when I do a report from the
Categories listing for _401KEmployerContrib that paycheck is listed rather
than under _401KEmployeeContribSpouse. Any ideas why & how to fix. I have
verified that the paycheck is under Salary:spouse.

TIA,
Barbara

You do not say what version of Quicken you are using.

The initial release of Q2006 had a bug that caused the problem
you report. But that bug was supposedly fixed in the first
patch (R2) to Q2006.

If you are using Q2006, check your release (Help > About
Quicken); if you have Q2006, R1, upgrade to the next-to-the-most
current release, R4. (I think you might want to avoid the most
current release, R5 - or QA5 - for a while, it has been causing
some problems during the install). You can get manual update
files at Intuit's web site and download them, and run them to
update Quicken. (Actually you only need the R4 file to update
to R4, but I always get every manual update file, so I can
control exactly what release I run).

Look here for Q2006 manual updates (look at the "Related
Answers" at the bottom of the page).

Sorry I forgot to mention. Quicken 2006 Premier. I have R5 actually & it
installed just fine.
I tired again to set up a new paycheck making sure I entered it as Employee
spouse salary in case that might have contributed to it but no still comes
up as Employee contribution.

Before I responded to your original post, I created a paycheck
transaction with a 401k pretax contribution for a spouse in
Q2006 R4; it was correctly categorized.

I don't think it matters, but you might check to see if the 401k
account is a spouse account. And you might try testing in a New
Quicken file.

I have no idea what the problem might be.
