Although I own S&P500 index fund which automatically gets updated by
Quicken's One Step Update, I have to manually look up the value of the
actual S&P500 index online each quarter that I calculate a new worth.
I use the index as a guide for whether my investments, in total, are
doing better or worse than the index itself.

Is there any way I can track the value of the S&P500 index in Quicken,
even though it is not an investment that I own? I suspect I could
with a dummy account with zero shares, but I'll bet there's a more
elegant way to do this.

I think Quicken calls the S&P 500 "INX"
