Hi John - just got back and opened up with the intent of following up on
your and other ideas - and what do you know - Quicken 2008 is now printing
perfectly!!! The only thing I'm not sure about (with this issue alone!!) is
whether or not I rebooted after trying some previous ideas. If I didn't, the
only difference between then and now might be that I switched off and
switched on again.

Many thanks for your valued input though, it all helps to learn.

I'm now goiong to return to the issue of importing QIF files form my UK
version of Quicken 2000 into 2008 Home & Business, but I think I'll absorb
what you've suggested so far, have a go, and then start a new thrtead if I'm
getting lost again.

Again many thanks for so far.

Weird, the problem seems to relate to your specific printer. I'm
running Vista Ultimate 64 bit, Quicken 2008 Deluxe and two printers,
one is a HP LaserJet 6L with a MICR toner cartridge used for printing
checks only, the other is a Konica Minolta Magicolor 2400W. Both print
perfectly with Quicken although the only printing I do is checks....

(The color laser does not have check stock or MICR toner and shouldn't
ever print from Quicken but it's the default printer and sometimes I
forget to switch so I know it will print from Quicken even if it's only
accidental.)

I'm sure you've tried this already but I have to mention it, go
download the latest drivers, open the printers folder, remove the
printer, then reboot and install the latest drivers, see if that does
anything?

BTW, what printer do you have? Most problems with 64 bit drivers seem
to be with the all-in-one printers.

Look here:

See if anything there can help, you'll have to log in to download or
ask a question in a forum but I *think* you can browse files and forums
w/o doing so...

Thanks for the reply - sorry for the delay, I've been away for a few days.
Somehow the printing problem no-longer exists!! I had been trying some of
the ideas suggested (such as changing printer drivers, installing "dummy"
printers etc, and getting nowhere - but I can't remember if I rebooted or
not at any stage in making those changes - it may be that was all that was
needed. Who knows - it works now.
