I would not try to save any transaction that was: for a security
that had a placeholder, entered in Quicken after the placeholder
was entered, and dated on or before the placeholder date.

No. It's one-at-a-time for investment accounts.

You could:
1.) deactivate downloads for the existing account
2.) create a new account
3.) work on the new account until it looks right
4.) delete the old account
5.) rename the new account to the old account
