Is there a 'scratchpad' feature in Quicken? JS 07-26-2007

I have Quicken 2005 Premier H&B and am wondering if there is a 'scratchpad'
feature available. I am referring to something in Quicken where I can jot down
a whole bunch of notes about some somewhat complicated transactions
(to me anyway) regarding some stocks that I have. Is this possible?

Thanks.

By "jot" do you mean actually writing things down, or can you do it in a
word processor?
In the former case, you could just scan your handwritten notes, and attach
to a transaction, or as a "statement."
In the latter case you can print as a PDF and attach directly.

In Q2007 (I *think* this exists back to Q2005), I use the NOTES AND FLAGS
facility. I use a "GREEN" flag to indicate that I have some information
about that transaction. I use a "RED" flag to indicate that I need to "do'
something about that transaction. For example, my payment for auto
insurance I flagged as Green, and listed in the note the components as to
how much each kid owes me for their piece at the getko. That's just
information. If I write a check on behalf of one of my kids that needs to
pay me back at some point, I flag it RED so I "don't forget". Then of
course, I clear that entry.

By filtering on FLAGS, one can see all the 'REDs' (to-dos) if one wishes.
And also one can keep notes concerning individual transactions.

I find this a very useful feature of Q to associate random thoughts too long
to fit in the description MEMO fields that get lost anyway without such a
flagging facility that Q provides via NOTES and FLAGS.

Thanks for pointing that out, never noticed it before, MUCH more
straighforward than my suggestion.

Thanks Bob - just an idea. Yours about scanning and printing certainly has
its use as well, especially if, perhaps, you're jotting notes on a provided
statement concerning the transaction at hand that the broker might have sent
the OP, like a sales transaction or something. Each method has its place
depending on what one wishes to do. I like having the ability to save
attachments of critical pieces of paper as well, although I confess I don't
use it as much as I should.

(Then when I need the physical paper, I can never find the darn thing.)
