Keeping the register expanded as a default Hal Hanig 03-06-2008

I was forced to upgrade from Quicken Deluxe 2005 to Quicken Deluxe 2008 by
the upcoming cessation of services and am finding a few changes difficult to
adjust to. Today's project involves the checkbook register.

In the older version, I was able to view several transactions at once. I
can't check how I managed this but I think I was able to expand or shrink
the window vertically by dragging the border. In any case I can't do this
now with the new version.

I tried hitting F11; which "maximizes" the register. What it really does is
hides the list of acounts over on the left so that the single transaction
now takes up the entire screen from left to right; instead of perhaps 80%
before. That's not what I'm looking for. I want to expand the window
VERTICALLY so that several transactions show in the same view and I want it
to default to this view.

I can press a small arrow icon on the right side of the alerts bar and I
will get exactly what I want.... for now. But the next time I open Quicken,
it's back as before. Not a huge deal, but it's an annoyance.

Anybody got an idea?

You seem to be saying you can now see only one register
transaction. That can't be, can it?

I have Q2005 (and Q2008): you can increase the number of
transactions displayed in either version by dragging the
horizontal border of the Quicken window ... until you reach the
limits of your monitor screen. But you can't drag the border of
Quicken's internal register "window" in either version.

Pressing F11 does what you say, but it also expands the register
window "vertically", allowing more transactions to be visible.
(And you can make the maximizing effect of the F11 key the
default, using Quicken Preferences for the register and checking
the box "Maximize my register view".)

It appears you are talking about hiding the "Download
Transactions" and "Scheduled Bills & Deposits" tabs at the foot
of the register. You can do that in Q2008 the same way you did
in Q2005 ... with the same limitations.

In the register menu row, click "Options > Hide
Downloaded/Scheduled tabs".

You can only do that in accounts that are not Activated for
downloading and which do not currently have Scheduled
Transactions due. If you Activate the account for downloading,
you won't be able to set the option again. And if a Scheduled
Transaction becomes due for the account, the option will be
turned off, and you'll have to manually set it again ... after
you have processed the Scheduled transaction.
