Magic keystroke to obtain original downloaded payee name? Andrew 09-18-2007

Does anyone remember (John - help!) what the magic keystroke is to have Q
recall the original payee name on a downloaded transaction? My CC was
replaced due to a vendor's security lapse, and a lot of the downloads aren't
matching correctly, and I am wondering if it is the new card, or perhaps
something in my renaming rules.

Many are simply coming in as "XFER BAL TO 1234....."; when I called the CC
company, they indeed see the real payee in their online records.

TIA.

This isn't a Citi CC, by any chance, is it? When I did my daily
download today, I got the same thing. When I logged in on the Citicard
web site, I got a message that I cannot look at my account and to call
customer service. CS told me that there had been a security breach on
my account, and that I wouldn't be able to view my account till my new
card arrived. The CS rep said that although my downloaded transactions
looked weird to me now, it would all be straightened out once the new
card's in place. This is the main card I use, 'cept for gas groceries
and drugstore purchases since Citi cut their rewards, and Chase is still
paying 5% on those items. Strangely enough, I do my downloads (direct)
daily, I have seen no nefarious transactions, and before the few XFER
BAL TO...s of today, I had several "normal" transactions. When Quicken
did its auto-reconcile, however, I got a ~$500 balance adjustment in the
form of a charge, so I guess someone at one of places I purchase boring
things like books and clothes (and auto charge all my utility bills),
has indeed stolen my CC number.

BTW, the CS rep said that they're very concerned with fraud, so I should
expect that they would notice before me even if I check my account every
day. Strangely he said I could continue to use my existing card till
the new one arrives, so they sure must analyze our spending patterns. I
think it odd that I can continue to use the card but not view my
transactions!! I guess I'll see what, if anything, downloads tomorrow
morning.

Anyway, my $2 worth. ;-)

Margaret

Sure is. Same problem, mine was one of many that was involved in a security
breach, but they wouldn't tell me (of course) what that meant. And yes, I
could keep using my old card until some future date, but I canceled it the
day that I got the replacement card. They don't make it that easy to figure
out how the old and new cards are syncing up either. Many movements of
transactions going between the cards from old to new, and it's not always
one for one, either. Not sure I'm going to be able to figure all this out
and may just say, the heck with it, I'll trust their computers enough to
believe it's all kosher!

Heh heh, actually I probably should have said 2lbs. I was referring to
the length of my post, er tome. :-) BTW, Bob, the irony of all this is
that a couple weeks ago, I got an offer from CitiCards that they were
going to automatically "upgrade" my Citi Platinum Dividends card to the
"world" version, but it would mean changing my credit card number. As I
don't travel much at all, my main concerns were the dividends not be any
less than I get with my current card, and that my CC num not change,
because I have so many payments autocharged to it. My water/electric co
is famous for screwing up whenever I've moved their payment to another
CC, for one.... And now my number's going to change anyway. Ah well,
such is life.

BTW, this morning when I did my daily download, my CitiDiv card
downloaded a couple "normal" transactions, then a few of the weird ones
mentioned in this thread, and then I got another ~$200 balance
adjustment (charge) when Quicken reconciled. I've found Citibank to be
pretty good when it comes to customer service, esp the few times I've
had to resort to disputing a charge, so I don't really have any concerns
that this will get worked out. I just find it strange indeed that I can
use the card but not see any transactions on the web site, and that
Quicken downloads ... well, I won't repeat myself any further. :-)

When I first got the letter from Citi that they were going to "upgrade"
my card, I almost posted hoping you'd have a comment on the difference
between these cards ... I know you're one of -- if not *the* CC expert
on this group. :-)

<End tome 2>

Margaret
