Mortgage and linked asset Leonard Agoado 02-23-2009

Hi all,

In Q2008 R9 I am having a problem with the balance of a loan
not being
reflected in its linked asset.

The loan name will appear in the Mortgage Account drop-down
list under
Asset-Overview-Account details, but the loan balance is not
reflected in the
Equity graph, neither in the liability calculation nor in the bar
graph.
For example, if I do a refi and payoff my old loan, the liability
value goes
to zero, and the new loan debt is not reflected.

This appears hit and miss, and I cannot see any pattern or
difference
between the loans that do show and the ones that don't; including
whether or
not I delete the original Opening Balance created by the Loan
Wizard, or
whether I start with my own entries.

I have looked at some of the related postings here, but have
not seen
this issue directly, although some of the solutions posted for
similar
problems have made no difference. I have run Validation and
Super-Validation to no effect.

Anyone have an idea what I am missing? TIA

I'm also running Q 2008 R9, and I also have re-fi'd the property.

I ran some experiments with that graph, and, MOST CURIOUSLY, I had to
click the original mortgage on the property (paid off in 2005) in
order to get the present mortgage to show. This is even though, in
the "Edit Account Details" for the house, it shows the name of the
current mortgage account.

What happens if you unlink the asset and liability accounts, then relink
them?

Backup first.

John,

When I unlink, the mortgage name still appears in the asset details
mortgage account dropdown list even though the asset no longer shows as
linked in the mortgage's details. Running a validation or a
super-validation after unlinking does not change this.

When I relink, the asset again shows as linked in the mortgage
details, and everything in the asset details remains the same as before.

I was really asking what happens if ALL three accounts are unlinked ... so
neither loan is linked to any asset and the asset isn't linked to any
loan. Then relink just the current loan and its asset.

Also, if doing a refi, what happens if you unlink the old loan before
setting up the new loan?
