In Quicken 2006 for Windows, I have set up an investment account named =
Vanguard Brokerage. =20

Within that account, I track several stocks, to which Vanguard has =
assigned one of its account numbers (to the group as a whole), two =
non-Vanguard mutual funds to which Vanguard has assigned another account =
number, and a Vanguard Prime Money Market Account to which Vanguard has =
assigned a 3rd account number.

I have a .qfx file downloaded from Vanguard which has contains stock =
transactions with the appropriate Vanguard account number and money =
market transactions, again with the appropriate Vanguard account number. =
In Quicken account setup, how do I handle this? I tried putting in all =
the Vgd account numbers separated by a space, separated by commas and =
separated by semicolons, but Quicken will not import the .qfx file. It =
seems to want only one account number in the account number box.

I would imagine some kind person has a fix for this. (And if this has =
been asked and answered, I apologize. I probably did not pick the right =
search terms)

Thanks,

Robert Leavitt

Bob,

You will have three accounts in Quicken. One for the Brokerage (Stocks),
another Brokerage for the Mutual Funds and one for the Prime Money Market
Account (which is likely a third brokerage account).

Oilcan

In Quicken 2006 for Windows, I have set up an investment account named
Vanguard Brokerage.

Within that account, I track several stocks, to which Vanguard has assigned
one of its account numbers (to the group as a whole), two non-Vanguard
mutual funds to which Vanguard has assigned another account number, and a
Vanguard Prime Money Market Account to which Vanguard has assigned a 3rd
account number.

I have a .qfx file downloaded from Vanguard which has contains stock
transactions with the appropriate Vanguard account number and money market
transactions, again with the appropriate Vanguard account number. In
Quicken account setup, how do I handle this? I tried putting in all the Vgd
account numbers separated by a space, separated by commas and separated by
semicolons, but Quicken will not import the .qfx file. It seems to want
only one account number in the account number box.

I would imagine some kind person has a fix for this. (And if this has been
asked and answered, I apologize. I probably did not pick the right search
terms)

Thanks,

Robert Leavitt

And each one requires their own qfx file for downloading/importing the
information.

The others are correct that if Vanguard downloads data for three
separate accounts, you must have three accounts in Quicken.

But Vanguard has the capability to combine, at least, some of
its accounts into one. I can't tell you what limits there are
on such a capability, but I know that their Prime MM fund does
not need to be in a separate account by iteself. I also know
that while Vanguard may default to assigning mutual funds each
to an account of its own, they can - at least in some
situations - combine those funds into one account (MM funds, are
mutual funds).

I would guess that if you had a real-world Vanguard "brokerage"
account (I'd guess that you already have one where you are
holding the "stocks"), you could carry multiple types of
securities in that account. I have stocks, bonds, and mutual
funds (including a mm fund) in a single Smith Barney brokerage
account ... transactions for all securities download to a single
Quicken account.

I would call Vanguard.
