Payees Name After Renaming Rules Applied Pat Whelton 04-04-2009

I needed to find a payment I made to Edwin Watts and used the reporting
feature to find all payments made to this payee and was surprised that I
could not find it. I was sure I had made a purchase. I thought about how
sometimes your payments are "renamed" by Quicken renaming rules. Sure
enough I found the payment. Is there a way to find all payments made to a
payee even though the payee name has been changed by a renaming rule?

There is no way to search in Quicken for the old name, if that's what
you're asking (even though Quicken saves that old name, and you can
"rename" individual transactions back to their old pre-renamed name).

But wouldn't you have a pretty good idea what the new name would be ... so
you could search for the new name? You can look at the renaming rules to
see how one name would be changed to another ... to help you in your
search.
