Placeholder with nothing to add? Jeff 01-20-2007

Using Quicken Deluxe 06
In one of my investment accounts I have a placeholder which when I click to
enter the missing transaction I find nothing to add:
'Total shares you own' AND 'Shares from transactions (above) are equal' and
'Shares in Placeholder Entry = 0 and cost = 0 !!

This is for a "Bank Deposit Program" which is where the broker sweeps cash
into a money account. I've looked with FIND and can find no transaction
prior to that date that could explain this.

What should I do. Can I just delete this placeholder? What causes a
placeholder to appear with a 0 shares balance?

I've seen a similar problem in Q2004 after an online update of a sweep
account. After the place holder is entered the value of the account is
is $0.00. I double check that the number of shares in Q2004 without
the placeholder matches my brokerage account and delete the
placeholder entry. For some reason Quicken thinks there is an error in
the total number of shares eventhough they match.

That is what I did. I was just wondering why that happens. Makes you worry
about what else may be happening in the background.

Thanks.
