Using 2004 deluxe.

I screwed up and created a new file which I will never use. But I
can't find a way to remove the darn title from the list of files. I
never did add to the file. If I do try to open it, it says it can't
be accessed. How do I get it off that darn list?

Thanks.

For Q2004, the Most Recently Used file list is stored in Quicken.ini, in the
WINDOWS folder. You can edit Quicken.ini with Notepad. Look for the
section "[RecentFiles]", which should be followed by 4 lines, each starting
with a number followed by an equal sign
1=....
2=....
3=....
4=....

Clear the file name from line that contains the unwanted file name ... but
leave the number and the "=" sign.

To protect yourself, make a copy of Quicken.ini before you begin.

Using WinXP Home SP3 with QD9

I want to increase the number of entries in the recent File list to 6. But
just going into the ...Application DataIntuitQuickenConfigQUSER.INI
file and adding the following lines does not work:
under [RecentFiles]
5=
6=
under [RecentBackupFiles]
5=
6=

I could not find any useful entries in ...Application
DataIntuitQuickenConfigQUICKEN.INI

Is this "hard wired" into QD or is there a way to change this?

Newer Quicken versions use QUSER.INI; Q2004 (the op's version) used
QUICKEN.INI.

I pretty sure 4 Most Recently Used files is the limit.

It's DONE and I thank you. It was particularly painful to see it
every day, especially since I'd misspelled what I'd intended to call
it.

It looks like they don't allow more than 4 files. Not a heck of a lot
of leeway. I'll be very careful in future.
