Q05 Dlx: Can't run reports after update Uncle Fester 07-14-2006

When I started Q05 Deluxe this evening, it asked if I wanted to update
Quicken. I don't recall it ever wanting to do that before. I said OK,
and it opened a One Step Update internet progress box. Some time
later, it finished and asked to start Quicken.

I now find that many of the built in reports do not work. I'll select
the report name from the menu, and nothing happens.

Some work, some don't. Cash Flow - Cash Flow doesn't work, but Cash
Flow - Cash Flow Comparison does.

Restarting Quicken, and rebooting, have not helped.

About Quicken says Quicken 05 Deluxe Release R 5, before and after the
update.

Anyone else seeing this?

No one ever replied to this post, but the problem was caused by
nonsensical values being stored in Quicken's Edit - Preferences -
Quicken Program - Reports and Graphs area. I think the ending date
was before the beginning date, don't really recall. I assume this was
caused by the automatic update of Quicken but have no proof.

No, I don't think it had anything to do with any Quicken update.

Quicken versions prior to Q2006 have had problems with
maintaining correct values for Quicken Program Preferences.

Referring specifically about Q2005:

One problem is that having (opening) multiple Quicken data files
can cause unwanted (*unentered*) alterations to Quicken
Preferences that affect all Quicken files. (I believe this
problem has been fixed in Q2006 because each Quicken data
fileset in Q2006 has its own "Preferences").

Another problem I have observed is that file corruption can
cause a permanent invalid date to be used as the "from" date for
reports that want a date range of "All dates". I have a test
Quicken fileset where the from date for "all dates" is
"250/190/1900" ... preventing any report from being created with
the date range of "All dates".
