Q06 with Limited User Account Brian Gotjunk 09-13-2006

I recently installed Quicken 2006 on a new machine where I use a Limited
user account for most of my work, and my admin user account for installs
and updating software.

I registered while in the admin account, but it keeps asking me to register
in the limited, and then reports that it cannot complete the registration.

It also does other odd things in the limited account.

Do I need to grant permission to my limited account to the "program
filesquicken" folder?

Try giving your limited account temporary administrator privileges and
then re-install Quicken from there (you shouldn't need to do an
uninstall). After registering and making sure things work, downgrade
privileges back to limited and Quicken should continue to work.

Repeat for any other limited accounts that need to use Quicken.

That seemed to work, because it is not now asking me to register. Thanks for
the help.

The only remaining problem is that my sounds are not playing - the chi-ching
when I record a transaction. They are turned on in Preferences but don't
work in any profile

Sounds work fine for me in limited accounts, but I'm using Quicken
2004. Try looking through your Quicken installation or application
data directory for where the sounds are stored, and see if the
security permissions allow you to play them without Quicken. Maybe
you need to reassign permissions or take ownership of those files or
directories using the administrator account.
