Q10 - Contacting the internet RonP 11-03-2009

Updated to Q10 deluxe and all of my accounts are a manual QFX download.
However, each time I import the QFX file, I get a quicken window "contacting
the internet" for about a minute and sometimes this will download updated
financial information, most times not. This use to only happen if I did a
one step/online update. Tried to find a setting to change it back, nothing
located. Can this behavior be changed somewhere? Thx

Quicken has always "contacted the internet" when importing QFX files, and
I can't see that changing unless Intuit decides to permit the "free"
importing of OFX/QFX data.

I can't recall whether I ever saw any message from Quicken that it was
making an internet connection during a QFX import, so perhaps Q2010 is
displaying something that no previous version displayed: if so, I don't
know of any way to stop that display. But the underlying process of
Quicken checking - via the internet - to see that the financial
institution is authorized to provide QFX data, was always happening.

[It's also possible that Intuit added the downloading of financial
institution info during the processing of QFX files recently: if that
information was only downloaded during One Step Updates, users who rarely,
or never, used OSU, might have out of date info for their financial
institutions.]
