... moving investment transactions to a new/different account.

My wife had a 401K that she had to move some years ago due to the company
being closed by a new owner. All of the investments were in American Funds
funds and doing well, so we found an Edward Jones agent that would handle
the rollover for us to an American Funds IRA account. In talking with the
agent recently we decided to split one of the funds and move half to a new
fund. We also decided to move the IRA to an Edward Jones account from
American Funds even though the actual funds are still held by American
Funds. All went well until this AM, 8-5-06, when I updated the investment
accounts and found each account had transactions to accept. For three (3)
of the four (4) funds there was only one (1) transaction which removed all
shares from that American Fund account. In accepting the transaction I was
given four (4) choices with transferring the shares to another account.
When I chose the destination account Q proceeded to do something, I can't
tell you what was going on behind the seen but there was a lot of hard
drive activity. Once it stopped Q put up a dialog box saying an error had
occurred and wanted to know if I wanted to send a report, well of course I
do. Once the report was sent Q promptly disappeared, closed, crashed. I
re-opened Q, and all appeared well with the account I just moved so I went
on to the next only to have it crash after the hard drive activity. Also as
before I was presented the dialog box about an error and did I want to send
a report. This happened for each fund I transferred. The only up side to
this is that all of the historic data appears to be intact and transferred
to the Edward Jones account.

Hopefully, with four (4) crash reports, Intuit will be able to find the
problem and issue a patch so no one else has to endure the hassle.
