I am a long time Quicken user (back to an early DOS version).
Though I suffered numerous "Memory Read Errors" using Q2004, I
persevered until that version's sunset was announced.
In October 2006, I bit the bullet and upgraded to Q2007 Premier. The
upgrade was painless. (Yes, I know other correspondents to this
newsgroup were not so fortunate.)
My Memory Rread Errors disappeared. However, Q2007 R1 & R2 would
crash under similar circumstances, in some cases giving me a 4 digit
error code for which no explanation was provided in the error message,
the Quicken help file or Intuit's own website. Other times Q2007
would just disappear. Intuit's website shows a number of others who
had similar issues up through mid January.
I eventually upgraded to R3 and these problems disappeared.
For the last month plus, Q2007 R3 has been nagging me to upgrade to
R4. Being the cautious sort, I declined.
This weekend the nagging finally worked, I broke down and upgraded to
R4.
The errors have returned. Tonight's was error #7085.
Any thoughts?
(FYI, I am running a 2 yr old plain vanilla Dell with Windows XP
Professional, with 1 Gig of RAM and 20 GB of free disk space -- well
exceeding Quicken's needs.)
