Q2010 backup to CD-RW Andrew Rossmann 01-24-2010

Amongst several forms of backup, I occasionally also back up to a CD-RW.
I tried the first backup to it with Q2010, and it says it cannot write
to it. I can manually create a backup somewhere else and copy the file
to the CD-RW. With Q2007, it would sometimes bing when I said to save,
but did copy the files.

Anybody else have this issue?

It also looks like they removed the ability to split a backup. My last-
resort backup is to floppies, and it won't back up the file because
there is not enough room, even on an empty disk.

I have been backing up to CD-RW or DVD for years. At some update in
Q2007, they broke it. I eventually re-installed Quicken without the
updates, and that worked until I moved to Q2009. Then, CD / DVD backup
never worked for me again.

Since then, I've used "Karen's Replicator". It is a free, easy to use
backup program. The way I use it is to create a new directory on the DVD
with the date as part of the directory name. Then, it copies the Quicken
data files into that new directory. The setup was very easy, and the
operation is quick and reliable. I use it manually after the last
updates of the day in Quicken. It can also be set up to do the backup
automatically at a specific date/time.

While this isn't as easy as just backing up from within Quicken, it also
adds the capability to backup other frequently used data. It acts as a
nice safety net in between complete system backups that I perform
several times a year.

Hope this helps.
